Varig Airlines of Brazil fell victim to the same financial difficulties as the other Brazilian "legacy" carriers, but managed to limp along long enough to eventually end up as part of GOL.  During the mid-2000's, Varig simplified its paint scheme by dropping the blue on the lower portion of the fuselage and going with the "Euro-White" look.  This set depicts this simplified scheme on the 737-400.

Varig Logisitica, better known as VarigLog was established in 2000 as the cargo subsidiary of the Brazilian airline Varig.  Both Varig and VarigLog joined the other Brazilian "legacy" carriers into bankruptcy and eventually were shut down.  Prior to its shut down in 2011, VarigLog operated seven different Rolls-Royce powered 757 freighters.

Varig was the first operator in the southern hemisphere of the Boeing 777, taking delivery of two GE90 powered 777-200ERs in 2001. Varig later operated six other 777s, but these first two were returned to GECAS in 2006 during the financial turmoil and later bankruptcy of Varig.  These two 777s now fly for AeroMexico.

Prior to removing the aircraft from service and the ultimate shutdown of the airline, Varig Airlines of Brazil painted two McDonnell Douglas MD-11’s in special Star Alliance colors. One aircraft featured a black tail (PP-VTH) and the other had a white tail (PP-VTU).
