1:144 usairways.com 737-300s
|
|

To promote the corporate website, US Airways painted two Boeing 737-300s in a special usairways.com scheme. The aircraft maintained the tail markings and thin fuselage stripes of the standard US Airways scheme, but featured a bare metal fuselage with new titles. The bare metal fuselage finish was a by-product of FAA-mandated lap joint inspections that required stripping of all paint. Rumor has it that the two aircraft (350 and 573) that eventually received this .com scheme did so because a maintenance contractor damaged the fuselages when it used an unapproved stripping method to remove the aircraft’s previous paint scheme.
