In 1970, the Royal Air Force ordered 10 Lockheed C-5A Galaxy heavy transports to update the country‚Äôs strategic airlift capability.  In RAF service, the aircraft was designated Galaxy C.Mk1.  Following tradition, the individual aircraft received names, in this case Roman deities.

In 1985, Pan American World Airways became the first U.S. airline to order the new Airbus A320.  The aircraft and corresponding delivery slots would eventually be sold in attempt to stem the airline's mounting financial losses.  The first 6 aircraft would eventually go to Braniff.  This decal provides the markings for the aircraft as they would have appeared in Pan Am's billboard livery.

HANS, part of Lufthansa, is Lufthansa's low-cost unit based in the heart of Bavaria.  HANS operates a fleet of 6 Airbus A321-100's, each named for a city in Bavaria.  HANS was launched in 2004 with a tremendous advertising campaign simultaneous with Star Alliance partner United's launch of Ted, part of United.  Ted only lasted until 2008, but HANS continues to operate to this day.

Boeing's desperate efforts to prolong the life of the C-17A Globemaster III production line finally yielded fruit when three airlines ordered the civilian version of the cargo aircraft, the BC-17A. The real surprise of the bunch was FedEx. The BC-17A order was the culmination of FedEx's efforts to move into the outsized and heavy freight market. Aircraft are being delivered in the current FedEx colors, featuring a white fuselage, winglets and engine nacelles, with a purple rear fuselage and vertical stabilizer.  1:144 scale Revell BC-17A built by Ross Armstrong.

As its route network grew, Piedmont Airlines needed to increase the capacity within its regional network.  Some of this growth occurred at Henson, The Piedmont Regional Airline.  An initial order for 25 Embraer E170's brought Henson into the jet age.

Having successfully fought off a take-over by USAir, Piedmont Airlines began taking delivery of Fokker F-100 aircraft in 1989.  The aircraft were delivered in the standard Piedmont color scheme, featuring a blue cheatline on a white upper fuselage.

In October 1995, Valujet Airlines was the launch customer for the ultimate variant of the venerable Douglas DC-9 family - the McDonnell-Douglas MD-95.  In 1995 Valujet placed an initial order for 50 aircraft plus 50 options.  The MD-95 became the 717 after Douglas merged with Boeing, and Valujet became AirTran who placed the 717 into service in 1999.  Use this decal with the Contrails or Pas Model resin 717 kits.
