In the late 1990s N1451D flew as "Saturday Night Special" with a highly polished finish.  Previously "Unruly Julie" and later becoming "Checkertail Clan", this P-51D was destroyed in a fatal accident in 2014.

Owned by the Eberhardt family,  this stock appearing Mustang has been racing at Reno since 1986,  suffering a major incident at Reno in 2006 and has been slowly working it way back to the Gold Race ever since.

23-year old Chuck Lyford flew this all-white P-51D-25 in the 1964 Harold’s Club Transcontinental Trophy Dash from St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Florida to Reno Nevada.  After leading the entire race, a serious of events at the end of the race conspired to have Chuck finish 2nd out of the eight P-51s that started the race.  The "Bardahl Special" was unique in this race as Chuck used 150 gallon Skyraider drop tanks to extend his range.  Chuck's "Bardahl Special" also pylon raced at Reno, of course without the drop tanks used in the transcon race..

Bob Hoover flew P-51D N2251D sponsored by North American and Rockwell for many years before it was seriously damaged when an oxygen bottle burst while being serviced.  This P-51D now flies in France as “Nooky Booky IV”.  Our decal includes both the North American Aviation as well later North American Rockwell titles allowing you to model either version.

Tragedy struck this P-39Q and its pilot Jack Woolams prior to the 1946 Thompson Trophy race, thus enabling sistership Cobra II raced by Tex Johnson to win the race uncontested by Cobra I.  This virtually stock in appearance P-39Q was bright red with black trim.

Owned by David Maytag, this stock in appearance wet-winged Mustang raced at Reno and Las Vegas in 1965, then at Los Angeles in 1966.

Owned by C.E. Crosby of Bellingham, WA,  "Mr Choppers " raced at Reno in 1964 and possibly other years.  44-74602 is now owned by Jack Hovey of Ione, CA and is painted in a sharp desert sand / spinach camo scheme.

Mira Slovak flew this all white F8F-2 Bearcat to victory in the very first Reno unlimited race in 1964.  Mira Slovak defected from Czechoslovakia on March 23rd 1953 as a CSA Airlines captain flying his C-47 to freedom in West Germany.  Living in the US, Mira made his living as a crop duster, then went on to race unlimited hydroplanes before being asked to fly this Bearcat owned by Bill Stead in the very first Reno air races.

“Precious Metal”, N6WJ, is a well-established Reno racer powered by the mighty Rolls Royce Griffon engine turning contra-rotating propellors. However, the horsepower has never quite turned into success. The markings here are as it appeared at the Reno Air Races and the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in September 2007.
