Chico, California based Aero Union was the largest air tanker operation in the United States. Prior to its demise in 2011, Aero Union operated a variety of types over the years including the B-17, C-54 and finally the P-3 Orion. This set depicts the C-119s that were operated by Aero Union until 1987 when the USFS grounded all C-119s due to safety concerns.

The C-119 was one of the main, large fire bombers operated for the USFS up until 1987 when the entire fleet was grounded due to safety concerns. Hemet Valley Flying Service operated three of these C-119s, tankers 81, 82 and 86.
