1:144 "Always" B-26 Tanker 59

Tanker 59 along with its sister ship Tanker 57 were owned and flown by Lynch Air Tankers for the 1989 Steven Spielberg movie Always. This Douglas TB-26C was bit of an odd duck being a dual control B-26 with a clear nose. The military s/n 44-35371 lists it as a standard clear nosed B-26C. At some point it was converted to a dual control aircraft. That change would have blocked any access to the nose compartment from the cockpit. The only access would have been from the ground through the hatch in the bottom of the nose. In addition to the installation of the retardant tanks and doors, the outboard leading edges of the wings have been extended and drooped to improve slow speed handling. The aircraft is currently owned by the Marine Aviation Museum in Houston, TX.

1:144 Cal Fire S-2T Turbine Tracker Fire Bombers

In 1996, CAL FIRE acquired 26 S-2E/G planes from the Department of Defense. CAL FIRE had the aircraft converted for fire-fighting configuration and fitting them with modern, powerful turboprop engines. The completely reconditioned S-2Ts are faster, safer, and more maneuverable. They can carry a larger retardant payload than the older S-2A air tanker CAL FIRE utilized since the 1970's. The S-2T air tanker is part of CAL FIRE's air program modernization efforts that will result in the safest and most efficient mix of aircraft to carry out the fire fighting mission. CAL FIRE currently has 23 S-2Ts that are utilized statewide. Use this set with the 1:144 Contrails S-2T kit.
